Im torn on the style category to apply to this big-bubbled beer of dark sorrel color. The name at first suggests the Munich dunkel style, a rarity in the Pac NW. But that is a lager. This beer is very clear, but Sailfish calls it an ale and the beer has the esters to prove it. My inclination is to call it a brown ale for its lush malty sweetness and nutty, woody accent. Minimal hopcraft is applied just enough for balance. Brown malts with a flourish of chocolate carry the taste.
Regardless of style designation, this is an engaging beer with good character and drinkability. Very much worth a try.
