my first from nevel, been so keen to try their beer for a long time now, this was a treat to share with the boys. its pink in color from the addition of elderberries, its also got lemon verbena in it, and i believe some other foraged herbs as well, its aged in oak, and its got an awesome wild fermentation profile to it from their house culture, this is both unique and high end in terms of quality, a joy to drink on. pretty pink pour here, fizzy like soda, and smelling a bit like rose wine, perfect time of year to pop this, subtle hints of slate and minerals, high tone acidity, bright cut spring flowers, and even delicate strawberry. i get as much from the verbena as i get from the fruit, the funk is on par with the acid, and there is a lot going on in this little bottle of beer overall! i get red rose, lemongrass, white pepper, and tannic oak, really pleasant mix of flavors, something slightly medicinal and even astringent to the elderberry, but it helps dry out the back end and its cool with the herbal bitterness this has later on. awesome fermentation profile too, which was the part of this i was most excited for, and it makes me want to get more from nevel, quite different from many others, distinctive to me, bretty, tangy, and mature, a neat mix. not overly fruited, not too sour, complex but approachable too, great texture dry and well carbonated, beautiful beer! thanks to the homies for sharing! need more from these guys!
