From a 16oz can. Canned on 05/06/2026
This beer is totally pitch black colored with no chance of any light shining through. The head is extremely thick - 4 finger in size and tan colored. The creamy looking head is long lasting and it leaves pretty good lacing on the glass.
The nose is dark and roasty smelling. I do get licorice notes in the aroma that add to the roasted malts. There's a hint of hops that also come into play.
Up front the beer has a slightly sweet malty hit to it that has roasted notes. Licorice notes come into play in the middle. This beer does change over toward the hops right after. The hops don't go away with lingering bitterness.
The body has a clingy feeling with the lingering hops. The body is pretty full feeling.
This is a tasty beer in the style. I am glad I got it.

Tap pour at the taproom. Served chilled in a goblet glass.
Dark brown colored body. Beige colored pillow top head. Leaves behind rings of lacing.
Aroma of roasted malts, citrus, and pine.
Taste is similar to the nose, with roasted malts leading the way. Slightly behind are the citrus and piney bits. Chocolate and coffee emerge as the beer warms. Aftertaste mellows with all flavors.
Medium mouthfeel. Crisp and clean through the finish. Bitterness is present along with slight char. Excellent carbonation.
Fits for style, with distinct nose and flavor components.
