Named for the evening train rides in the early 20th Century from Raleigh to Fuquay Springs for a taste of the healing waters, our Baltic Porter is delicious, full-bodied, and smooth. It has a slightly aged alcohol warmth. Sweet, malty, roasted flavor that stops short of burnt. Dark fruits, caramel, and rich chocolate flavors add to the complexity. Rich malty sweetness with a complex blend of deep malts rounds out this great lager nod to English Porters and Russian Imperial Stouts. Our Baltic Porter will warm your soul and satisfy your dark beer cravings!

A: Pours an opaque yet still clear extremely dark cola brown approaching jet black in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and faint chestnut brown + cola brown colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall sudsy foamy dark tan head that reduces to a large patch of thin film covering a little more than 95% of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of roasted + charred + dark malts along with moderate aromas of roasted coffee + chocolate malts + caramel malts which contribute a light amount of caramel + dark fruit (raisin) sweetness. Light aromas of unsweetened chocolate.
T: Upfront there are moderate to strong flavors of roasted + charred + dark + chocolate + caramel malts with a light amount of caramel + dark fruit (raisin sweetness). That is followed by moderate flavors of unsweetened chocolate and roasted coffee. There is a slightly stronger than moderate amount of roasty bitterness that slowly fades away leaving a light amount of sweetness.
M: Medium to full bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth.
O: Drinks pretty easily considering the strength of the beer and the alcohol is well hidden. Enjoyable with really nice complex roasty malty flavors with just enough sweetness but not overly sweet. Really well done.

I pour one and a half cans into a half liter stein, a deep dark chocolate brown with slight deep reddish tint,a full almost two finger deep billowing beige head atop.Caramel abounds in the nose along with some raisin and underlying chocolate.Flavors of unsweetened chocolate and roast then melds into some caramel-like sweetness and raisin in the finish.I'am a Baltic Porter lover and this delivers for me it's not overly sweet and it's very smooth, one of the better I have had in awhile and it's local.Very nice.

Poured from a 12oz can dated 11/26/18. This is a very well executed Baltic Porter that would hold its own against smuttynose. If you like rich dark beers you will love this one. It’s very easy drinking and slammed with flavor.

Poured from 12 oz can into tulip glass. Pours a 2" frothy tan head that falls moderately with plenty of lacing. Color is dark brown. Aroma of rich roasted malt, peat, cocoa, coffee, a bit of citrus. Mouthfeel is medium to thick with a dry somewhat powdery finish. Flavors: chocolate, coffee, turned fruit, figs, molasses, citrus rind. Overall: easy drinking and fairly tasty.
