Seemingly no aroma to speak of and the taste was indescribably lacking, not flavorful whatsoever, bland.

I had this in August of 2009 at the Walking Man Brewery in Stevenson, Washington. The colour was reminiscent of a burnt sugar brown and it had no head. The aroma was smokey and quite full of caramel. On the palate there wasn't as much to offer as the nose. In general, there was some mild malt and light hops, but that was about it.

A pint, poured at Concordia Ale House.

A: Dark amber, quite clear. Creamy ivory head, about a finger. Gorgeous lace - full sheets of creaminess clinging on the glass.

S: Not very strong...roasted malt and light nuttiness. Surprising use of hops. May have been served too cold, though even after enough time to warm (my hands wrapped firmly around the glass...), the aroma never really blossomed.

T: Malty, roasted nuttiness and nicely hopped. A read of the WM website lists the use of Cascade hops and a healthy 38 IBU's. It's a very nice melding of the malty brown ale with a hoppy twist (duh, it's Walking Man brewing this...).

M: Medium-full mouthfeel with an encompassing bitterness. Carbonation is light and fairly crisp.

D: A fine easy-drinking brew, flavorful and well-balanced. Reasonable as a session beer at just over 5% - one I'd order again and recommend.

On tap at Walking Man Brewing.

Light brown brew with slightly sweet, mildly floral aroma. Great nuttiness. Very mild on the hops. Very smooth and easy. Flavors fade quickly. Light to medium bodied. Highly quaffable.

Overall: Though it's 5.2%, I'd say it'd be good as a session brew and definitely good for beginners

A simple, dignified ale with an aroma I could breathe in for hours. The smell is like pralines and potpourri in a vat of congealed honey. Barefoot is the color of a horse – a chestnut or sorrel color, and very clear. It has an eclipsed head and indifferent lace. The taste is slightly nutty with grainy malts and a notable presence of yeast. The bittering is there where you want it, but never becomes intrusive.

A notably friendly brown ale. Solid and approachable.
