Rum barrel, to be exact. Quaffed on tap at the brewery and served in a goblet. 9.2% ABV.
Pours a somewhat murky brown/amber with minimal head and lace. Aroma is dark, fruity malts and subtle rum. The taste is very malty up front, with a rum-butter flavor working into the middle, followed by light molasses flavor and minimal alcohol burn. No peat-smoked malt or pronounced chocolate flavors were noted. Woody astringency was also not apparent. Very smooth, medium bodied. Falls just short of being a really outstanding beer, but very easy and enjoyable to knock back.
