Had this on tap and a growler after leaving the brewery. Did the review from the growler.
Appearance- cloudy orange color with a big fluffy white head. Lots of lacing. 3.5/5
Smell- Earthy/grassy hop aroma. Some malt sweetness. 3.5/5
Taste- Earthy/grassy bitterness. The honey and aguave nectar meld together to add a gummy sweetness to the beer. This does not overpower the bitterness that lingers thru out the sip. 3/5
Mouthfeel- Full mouthfeel. Almost gummy. 3/5
Overall- Walking Man puts a little too much malt in their beers. I have to say their is enough hops, but please let them shine a little more. (Like I know what I am talking about). 3/5

Fresh 2011 batch on tap at Belmont Station. Better than I remember the first batch being. Burnt orange color, minimal head with only a few bubbles around the glass. Nose is the best WM smell I've had. Great citrus notes and a little pine cone. Taste is very nice. Tangerine and grapefruit up front, piney and bittering mid-section, finishes with a touch of biscuit. Mouthfeel is a little lighter for the style but I very much enjoy that. For my palate this is amazing, my new favorite Walking Man beer.

Pint glass at the brewery.
Very nice dark bronze. Cloudy appearance. Head dissipates quickly leaving nothing.
Taste nice but nothing special. Disappointing really. Their reputation simply didn't measure up.
It's a good beer and very enjoyable, just nothing special worth seeking out.

I can't see why Walking Man would want to come out with another imperial IPA. Their Homo Erectus is stellar and legendary. Let other breweries try to measure their DIPA against Homo. Putting this retread in the shadow of the Erect one is an invitation to failed comparisons. Though WM uses honey and agave nectar in Iron Man, it remains indistinct. It is burnt orange color with modest carbonation, scant head, and indifferent lace.
Iron Man tastes like tangerine with hops. It has a light malt fruitiness but doesn't otherwise excite, especially when stacked up against its Homo predecessor. Detracts from the brewery's roster of excellence.

On-tap at the brewery poured into a 4 oz sampler glass.
From The Beer Over Here blog by John Foyston: "The Iron Man IPA is a VERY hoppy beer made with honey and agave nectar in the kettle. Jim, who was responsible for the beautiful Walking Man iron work and loved tequila and honey, went missing a few months ago."
This was just tapped yesterday afternoon. Amazingly fresh!
appearance - pours a deep amber, shallow head, not much retention
smell - sweet honey and dank, resinous, citric hops
taste - huge hop profile, big honey flavor, nectar sweetness, earthy and citrus-like
mouthfeel - very smooth, strong carbonation, big body
drinkability - very robust/flavorful, comparable to Hopslam
