Blueprint Brewing Co. "The Wizard"
$6/pint on tap at the brewery on 20 April 2019

Notes: NEIPA brewed with barley, wheat, and oats. A hazy yellow-gold body is capped by a fluffy head of white foam. Very good head retention and lacing. The aroma is pungent, resinous, and citrusy. The flavor brings in additional sweetish, grainy, and bready malt. A median bitterness leads to a dry finish. Medium bodied and gently crisp. This is a decent enough beer but kind of like a regular IPA.

It's a decent IPA, but it's not really a NEIPA. Not hazy enough. Still a good beer, just not 100% true to style.

On draft at the brewery in a pint glass

Hazy yellow color, white head. Good lacing. Pleasant hop aroma that is a mix of fruity and dank. Taste is similar with a distinct bitter bite with a touch of an off putting astringent component. Body is decent, not quite a "soft" mouthfeel, but getting closer than their previous efforts at this substyle.

So overall this is the best attempt at the NE IPA style so far besides the one collaboration beer they did with The Proper that was pretty good. But it still needs much more aroma, plus some tweaks on the flavor and body.
