Just after spearing a four pack, one and a half cans were emptied into a clear glass liter mug. First noticed is the starchy and foamy white head, now perhaps too common in the style. The liquid is a murky blond-amber that looks like it wasn't filtered. The smell is of the softening starches, likely wheat and/or oats. There's not much glass lacing. Fears of a thin body are confirmed, as there is very little malty backbone. There's very little bite from the triple dried hops, the second disappointment. Mostly a bland offering that shouldn't offend anyone, unless they're looking for a strong hoppy bite playing off a rich and somewhat sweet barley malt. The contents of the second can will be finished unenthusiastically.
Addendum: The final half of the second can was much more enjoyable. The above was a review whilst the beer was too cold. As it warmed to, say, cellar temperature, the triple dry hopping became pronounced. The taste and overall rating had to be adjusted from 4.0 for each. The finish does have a bitter bite and very nice dry finish when consumed at the proper temperature. It was nice to see some residue at the bottom of the mug. Rather than edit the review, it shall remain as a reminder to not drink this one store-bought cold.
