Poured from 12oz can into a dimpled mug. Canned 10/17/23; according to the label, this batch clocks in at 6.3% ABV.

Appearance: super rich dark brown body with a thick head of frothy dark-tan foam atop. Very nice indeed.

Smell: roasty malts with a fair dose of yeastiness and sweetness. There is a little bit of a vegetal aroma that some roasty beers can develop, though.

Taste: like the aroma, it’s roasty, yeasty, and a bit sweet. That vegetal character is far less pronounced in the flavor; overall the hops just read as earthy. A pretty solid porter.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess. Man, just a hint more body or carb or something here would be really nice!

Overall: I am quite enjoying this beer. Roasty and a bit bitter, but with enough sweetness for balance. Good stuff.

Dark brown with crimson hues. Thick and long-lasting dark tan froth.

Aroma is full of roasted nuts, dark chocolate and caramel. Quite complex for a porter, and maybe that's why it's called a "Robust Porter". Let's see what it tastes like though.

Fairly bold flavor-wise with more roasted nuts, some dark fruits and herb. A little thin in body, but that may be more of a personal preference issue. More nut and cacao in the aftertaste.

Angry Scotsman may not be at the cutting edge of the OKC brew scene, but they do make some classic ales. And that's just what I'm in the mood for right now.

On nitro draught:

Pours a dark black color with a thick, creamy white head similar to Guinness. Head diminishes a bit over time and does not lace much.

Smell is very creamy and malty. A slight burnt aroma is present too.

Taste is robust, mainly slightly burnt malts and coffee with some notes of milk chocolate. Leaves a charcoal-like aftertaste that with good is almost unnoticeable but drinking by itself is a bit unpleasant.

Feel: body is around medium-full. Carbonation is fairly low. This beer is a tad heavy on the stomach for me.

Overall, I would be nervous to try this brew out of the can or any other way than nitro draught. It’s good, but not the best from Angry Scotsman.
