Definitely lives up to it's name..hazy is an understatment. Hits most of the notes I'd expect in a proper German Hefe. Would like to see a little more malt backbone but I'm getting picky.
Might be the best Canadian example of the style I've sampled to date

650ml bottle - hmmmm...correlating a hefeweizen's haze to that of bygone seagoing explorers' experiences seems to be stretching it - German seafarers typically had other 'tasks' at hand.

This beer pours a slightly cloudy, pale golden yellow colour, with a teeming tower of puffy, finely foamy, and somewhat creamy ecru head, which leaves some layered dripping paint swath lace around the glass as it gently subsides.

It smells of damp banana chips, semi-sweet bready and doughy wheaten malt, some laid-back earthy yeastiness, a further biscuity caramel character, muddled spice, and some very tame leafy, musty, and floral noble hop bitters. The taste is gritty and grainy cereal wheat malt, underripe banana, some clove and white pepper spiciness, still banal yeast, and more understated earthy, musty, and dead floral 'verdant' hoppiness.

The carbonation is quite active in its swirling and twirling frothiness, the body a decent medium weight, and generally smooth, with a wee airy creaminess pretty much there from the get-go. It finishes off-dry, the wheat and banana flavours really showing the most lingering fervour.

Overall - this is an approachable and agreeable enough version of the style, the biggest delta from the norm being that new Alberta craft malt essence, which I'm really coming to appreciate. Easy to drink, and refreshing, due in no small part to the fact that any October day that isn't below freezing is a good day.
