Munich Dunkel Dark Lager

L: Pours a muddy brown color, almost reminiscent of a liquified tootsie roll with a small tan head and no lacing on the glass.

S: Raisin chocolate and cherry, a bit of grape, some roasted malt. Smells fairly fruity.

T: Roasted malt, some chocolate, a bit of coffee, earthiness and cherry, tastes slightly watery.

F: Thick creamy mouthful that coats the mouth.

O: Solid beer , but the flavors all kinda muddy themselves together.

473ml can - it's a little annoying that they had to put 'dark lager' on a beer label that already says 'Dunkel'.

This beer pours a clear (I think), dark amber-highlighted brown colour, with two fingers of puffy, rocky, and mildly fizzy tan head, which leaves some random waves crashing on shoreline rocks lace around the glass as it quickly dissipates.

It smells of lightly roasted, bready and doughy caramel malt, some oily nuttiness, a bit of cafe-au-lait, bittersweet cocoa powder, and very subtle earthy, leafy, and floral hops. The taste is gritty and grainy caramel malt, bar-top nuts, some free-range ashiness, day-old coffee grounds, ethereal chocolate, and more understated earthy, musty, and floral hoppiness.

The carbonation is fairly active in its palate-pinging frothiness, the body an adequate medium weight, and generally smooth, with perhaps a touch of smokiness making a minor dent in the surface sheen here. It finishes off-dry, the nutty malt pretty much the only lingering game in town.

Overall - this comes across as a full-flavoured version of the style, nice and roasty, nutty, and malty (maybe it's because I just had a sour IPA that I'm appreciating this one more than I normally would). Well-made, easy to put back, and worth checking out, especially if you're a fan of such things.
