Copenhagen 26/4 2020. 33 cl little, chubby bottle from Belgisk Bryg, Emdrup Mosevej, Kbh. NV. Slaapmutske's usual half-moon with a night cap on the label.

Pours unclear, pale yellow with a big, frothy white head. Settles as thin layer of foam just covering the surface of the beer. Crawling up the sides of the glass. Substantial lacing.

Aroma is medium intense with a strong fruity and malty sweet odor and a solid yeasty touch. Banana, peach mingling with caramel and bread. Humid, musty basement. Light grainy sourness.

Medium strong carbonation. slightly thick, oily, lightly tingling texture.

Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed and balanced by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish with a light bitter undercurrent. Lingers for a bit. Semi-dry finish.

Solid fruity and yeasty Belgian brew nicely balanced and with a fair intensity.

330ml bottle brought home from my trip to Belgium last summer. Pours a hazy golden colour with a large white head. Aromas of citrus & malt. Tastes of citrus, orange peel, spice & malt, leading to a sweet fruity bitterness finish. Overall a nice summer drink.

Stubby 330 ml bottle served at Gollem in Antwerp. On to the beer:

A creamy half-inch head sits on top of this blond-orangish beer. THe head retains well and patches of lace stick around the glass. The aroma smells a bit like the countryside, a little rustic, woodsy, grassy, and smell of vines. Its taste starts off on the dry side. Grass hits first, then a smack of honey and toasted grain follow. There's even a note of melon. More snappy grass flavor. It's medium bodied beer with some creaminess and some bubbly carbonation which adds a little extra to the character of the beer.

Nice blond. Contrary to what the pictured moon is doing, this beer won't put you to sleep.

Pour is a dark yellow, hazed, tight white head. The nose has a bit of sweetness and very little spice, notes of lemon, bubblegum, and faint pepper. Taste is very sweet, bubblegum and lemon with an earthy note and faint yeast spice. Oily piney hop finish with a syrupy feel and a little heavy for the style.

33cl bottle purchased from 'The Bier Tempel' in Bruges, Belgium

A- Pours a brilliant yellow color, good lively carbonation, very dense white head with a good amount of lacing.

S- Lemons, orange, hops with a good earthy character about it.

T- Clean, good hoppyness, more citrus fruits come through as it warms a bit, some grass as well, lacking a solid malt base.

M- Starts light and crisp like a pils would, but then mid way really gains some body, good carbonation.

D- good.

Bottle: Poured a cloudy dirty beige color ale with a big foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of sweet malt and subtle dough bread yeast is OK. Taste is quite sweet with some weird spice mix and a dry metallic finish. Sweetness was a bit too cloying and texture too oily for the style. Body was quite full with some great carbonation. I can think of at least half-dozen of more balance beer in this style and definitely too many flaws for me to try again.

33cl bottle, purchased on my recent trip to Brussels. Best before date of 10/10/05 appears on the cap. The description on the bottle says to consume within 2 years, so I am assuming this one was brewed 10/10/03.

Slaapmutske Blond presents itself a pale golden color and makes a short white head and leaves a spattering of lace on my glass. The aroma is of a floral garden and coriander spice. Flavor is slightly peppery, mild tartness, sweet white raisins, a tinge of bitterness. There's a bit of buttery diacetyl present, probably from the aging. Creamy, medium body with more residual sweetness than I like to see for a blond, however the finish is fairly dry. Carbonation is crisp and spicy. This one isn't bad, I wouldn't mind trying a fresher example.

The Slaapmutske blond I sampled had no bottledate and said best till 2 years after. Bringing it into the glass was easy and foam was exactly as I would love it to be. Nice and proper white head that lasted quiet well. Color is dark gold with some particles in it.
Smell is a mixture of hops, yeastfruit and is it anis? Taste is very ruity again. Further malt, litle sweetsour before it gets into a nice hopbitterness that lasts well. Mouthfeel is bombastic with lots of taste and carbon dioxide and some alcohol mixing together. Good brew.
