Copenhagen 23/4 2020. 33 cl bottle from Belgisk Bryg, Emdrup Mosevej, Kbh. NV. Slaapmutske's usual half-moon with a night cap on the label.
Pours murky maroon with a big white head. Settles as thin layer of foam just covering the surface of the beer. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is medium intense, sweet and fermented with a yeasty touch and a light earthiness. Brown sugar, dark fermented fruit, touch of sweet banana, caramel. Humid basement, leather and wet soil.
Medium strong carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, soft yet lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a strong sweetness followed by a moderately strong bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet and lingers for a while. Caramel-ish finish.
Pretty run of the mill Bruin. Could use a little boozy boost.

I know the taste adn smell and can’t pin it down...nuts, toffee, caramel, apricots, figs, raisins, swwet and soothing. Lots of sediment make this a cloudy orange copper color with sticky thick foam. This is truly delicious. Note: my bottle is not labeled as "Winterbier" , just "Bruin"

Bottled on 25/02/02...
Appearance: brownish, slightly hazy, billowous tan head at first but with poor head retention (just leaves a thin film with a few "islands")
Aroma: dark cocoa, malt, light herbally hops, indescript spices, pumpernickel sourness, hint of citrus fruit
Flavor: quite dry (not much malt sweetness) up front, then an enveloping tanginess like sourdough bread, yeasty, a bit watery, finishes semi-dry with a malty aftertaste that slowly sweetens on the tongue
Mouthfeel: medium body, mild carbonation, thin texture
Overall Impression: A bit disappointing, even after the "action-packed" introduction (the bottle erupted when I popped the cap). Label states there's coriander in it. Must be a balanced amount because I can't really taste it and peg it as coriander. I suppose it's responsible for some of the tanginess and the citrus scent.
