if you dont mind them a little sweet, this is a really nice coconut porter. the coconut profile is natural and really robust, sweet and fleshy and natural, and the porter isnt so dark that this is heavy, but there is some sugary linger to the finish that may limit drinkability a bit. i kind of like the somewhat lighter malt profile, its almost like a dark brown ale at its core, without too much of the darkest roasted grains, more of a chocolate malt profile there, a different kind of balance but its definitely successful. there is a neat cocoa profile here from the grain, and a certain nutty thing too, almost an almond or even amaretto aspect, works great with the coconut wherever it comes from. medium body, relaxed carbonation, palate coating coconut flavor, long finish, smooth and sweet. i really like how coconut forward this is, and how its lower in alcohol. not sure it pairs great with pizza, but its a well made beer and better than many in its field, distinctive even. nice on a chilly evening, and one of the better beers we had in here when we visited.
