I saw d'Anaba on the label, and am making an educated guess this is the brewery it came from. Brul pours a bit of a muddy colour brown. Consistent colour throughout. The head is a decent 1 finger, with a small amount of lace sticking to the mug. Smelled a tad sweet, with some peppery spices. Malt is the dominant ingredient, but it doesn't dominate the senses. Tastes a little like rye and pumpernickel bread. Sweet, cereal like front, with an almond and burnt toast aftertaste. Pretty good, considering my expectations were low. Their is no hop presence. But it's still pretty balanced. Lighter, smooth mouthfeel. Not watery light, just a lighter mouthfeel. I could have a few in a row. An average ale, but a respectable ale nonetheless.
