Pours a tawny-hued black with a fat finger of soupy mocha-colored head that dissipates fairly slowly into an lovely soupy mess, leaving some lacing that slides back into the liquid. Quite a pretty display for the ABV.
Chocolate, red wine and alcohol in the nose.
Nice, semi-bitter baker’s chocolate in the taste, with more red wine character, a little caramel-laden bourbon, a slight hint of cola and some alcohol burn.
On the lighter side of medium bodied, oily and slick, with just a little carbonation.
Just shy of boozy. The chocolate in this one is delicious, and complements the red wine and barrel aspects very nicely.
