Pours an effervescent mahogany with 2+ fingers of pillowy mocha colored head. Traces of head retention & lacing
S: Iron, & hints chocolate, caramel once warm; the major shortcoming on this offering. Just doesn't keep with the flavor delivered
T: Sweet caramel, pecans, some boozeyness, a touch of Cola, Chicory & dryness up front. Dark chocolate, caramel, pecan hull bitterness, roastyness, plus a little blueberry, dryness & leafy hops once warm. Finishes with sweet dark chocolate, caramel, roasty dryness, some cola flavor & a touch of pecan nuttyness/bitterness & just a touch of leafy hops
MF: Medium body, fairly firm carbonation, warming. The body gets chewier as this warms up
A Solid Imperial Stout doesn't really color in the lines of RIS guidelines, but plenty tasty & hides the ABV well

Cold and rainy and it's time to finish off some of the big beers from the winter.
Pours a shiny dark brown with a dark tan froth.
Aroma is full of sweet surprises such as cherry, burnt sugar, marshmallow and caramel.
Taste is actually quite well-balanced for a brew of this size, but it does lean toward the sweeter end more and more as it warms. Nuts, cinnamon spice, and hints of pine throughout the finish.
Heavy in body with that big alcohol, but there's so much going on it's hardly noticed.
A-OK.
