We based this recipe on the classic Bohemian pilsner styles you might find in the Czech Republic. Expect a more pronounced bitterness with a less fruity and more earthy/herbal hop profile.

Tap pour at the taproom. Served chilled in a straight walled lager glass.
Clear, pale gold colored body. One finger of white head which retreats to a thin cap and high ring. Leaves behind rings of lacing.
Aroma of bready malts and floral hops, with a touch of spice.
Taste follows with flavors of toasted white bread, spicy and floral hops, and a touch of fruitiness. Medium bitterness. Mellow follow through in the aftertaste.
Medium mouthfeel. Clean and sturdy finish. Excellent carbonation.
Right for style, tasty, spicy, and crisp.

12oz can received courtesy of Russpowell. I've not heard of it before - the beer or the brewery - but I'm excited to try it because this is definitely pilsner weather (not that there's really any such thing as non-pilsner weather for me these days). Per the stamp on the can, it was canned on August 9, 2022. The can says "Definitely not imported, but still tastes pretty great."

Poured into what is technically a branded flute from Lindeman's but really looks like a nice pilsner glass for a 12oz can, this was a very slightly chill-hazed golden amber, with a tight but sudsy off-white head. Lots of lace.

Soft, grassy herbally bitter hoppiness in the nose, with a whiff of crackery maltiness.

The taste is like an even better version of the aroma. Quite dry, and lightly bitter and floral, it is extremely refreshing. Finishes with a perfect clean crisp quality.

If you look up what a Pilsner is supposed to feel like in the mouth, it's a description of what this beer is like. It's light pleasingly crisp and refreshing on the palate, and finishes super clean.

Damn, this is a nice pills. Seems to me to be more German than check in approach, but I see it making an aficionado of either sub-type happy. Stone cloud is now officially on my radar. I feel like I could drink this all day, and eventually it would definitely catch up to me, but not for a while. Great stuff! Thanks, Russ!

Packaging notes: Sixer purchased at brewery 5/14/23, can dated 3/29/23. The beer now comes in a custom printed box and the label is now printed directly on the can.

Appearance:
Deep, bright gold and filtered clarity, Frothy white head that lasts and laces well. A breahtakingly beautiful and inviting brew!

Aroma:
Bready, crackery malts and herbal, earthy and somewhat spicy noble hops.

Flavor:
Clean, crisp dry-ish malt and moderate bitterness. Has that classic Saaz/Zatec twang in the finish.

Mouthfeel:
Light to medium, no flaws and CO2 is just right

Overall:
Tastes closer to a Czech Pils than most other American clones. The brewers put extra effort into authenticity, at least with the ingredients and the open fermentation. Like I said before, it has it's own printed box and cans, so it must have graduated to the top tier of Stonecloud's offerings. An excellent and deserving offering!

“Na zdraví!”

Pours a chill hazed honey color with one finger of cream colored head. Average-ish head retention & lacing

S: Bready, a little grassyness & citrus, perfumy hops once warm

Follows the nose, a touch of dryness, and peppery hops up front. Slight pear taste to this beer as it warms up, some soapyness, breadyness and grassyness. Finishes a little fruity with some lemon, soapyness & a little grassyness

MF: Medium body, fairly crisp carbonation, nicely balanced

Super drinkability and very much to style

Medium golden hue, sparkling clear; robust, fine carbonation; thick, billowy head, semi-creamy texture, white. Outstanding lightly toasted malt nose; faint trace of herbal hops. Excellent balanced taste profile; mild toasted malt notes with a light malt sweetness; biscuit; initial light hop bitterness that develops to a medium intensity. Generally light bodied; smooth with a satisfying subliminal warmth; mild brightness and dryness on the palate.

An absolute gem of a beer. Clean and crisp with a satisfying malt backbone and warmth carrying a sharp yet balanced hop bitterness and presence.

Pouring temperature: 54 °F; canning data: 349 12/15/21
