The alcohol content and appearance led me to believe this was going to be some Algerian Colt 45 or OE. I was mistaken. This beer's appearance is pathetic. A pale yellow with a fizzy, soda pop head. No lace, and the film of head disipated to a ring inside the glass, while the middle has no foam. But it all goes uphill from their. The smell is strong. Big alcohol, big malts, big hops, big aromatic flavours. It kicks you in the nasal passage. Trying to decipher the smell is tough. Okay, alot of strong malt. More cracker like than bread. No adjunct smell, but the alcohol could hide that. Citrus and bitter hops. Bit more citrus that doesn't seem to be from the hops. Tastes, well, powerful. The first thing that hits the tongue is the citrus and the hops. Bitter hops meld with the lemons, limes and grapefruits to create this unique flavour. Alot of lime is used in the flavour. Which I like. The aftertaste is more mellow, relatively speaking. It's strong, but the cracker taste is more predominant. Crisp, grainy mouthfeel leaves the throat refreshed. A surprisingly good beer.
