this is really super minimal and maybe not as well refined as it could be, but its also not bad when i consider it as a keller type, intentional or not thats what it looks and drinks like, lacking real clarity but hitting on most of the requisite flavor elements, subtle as they are. the yeast is right, european and tame, but very much obviously a lager strain and fermenting this to very dry, seems patient and well enough employed. the grain is a little fuller in feel than the crispest of these, but the flavor is lacking a little bit, it doesnt have intentional breadiness or anything to it, and while fleshing this out some, leaves a bit to be desired. the hops are also light, just a bit of balancing bitterness at the end and not much aroma or flavor, just a touch of citrus in the nose, orange maybe, but thats it. this really is just a beer flavored beer, and a touch of a sloppy one at that, but it should be agreeable to most folks and shows some lagering potential for these guys. they are new enough to not really be judged too harshly on anything, the place is cool and the beers are drinkable, but i expect this (and others) to improve from batch to batch. not a bad effort, there is definitely room for more good lager locally, so i hope they get this dialed in...
