Brewery tap-filled can, poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a slightly hazy, medium golden amber with a fine, one finger white head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of pale malt and vaguely citrus hops; muted. Flavor is pale malt, citrus and piney hops, lemon, mild light stone fruit, light pine and a touch of dankness. Moderate bitterness that builds a little in the lingering aftertaste. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess and nice mouth feel. An idiosyncratic IPA with an interesting hop bill, but the flavors are hard to parse. I was a little concerned after the aroma was so muted with only a hint of hops, but the flavor is at full hop intensity. The very fine grained head may have been blocking the aroma. Not a traditional West Coast style IPA profile, although it does have some citrus and pine character. The first taste was huh? at first followed by increasing interest into a quite satisfactory finish. After settling into this one, I really enjoyed it.
