16oz pint at Northern Chicken, the only place with this stuff still in Edmonton. A collaboration with Outcast from Caaaaaaaalgary! Baby, eat that chicken slow, it's full of all them little bones! The Hip on LP - I gotta get back to this place at some point.

This beer appears a murky, medium apricot yellow colour, with two fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and chunky bone-white head, which leaves some thick snow rime lace around the glass as it slowly sinks away.

It smells of mildly dank and resinous pine needles, bready and doughy caramel malt, muddled domestic citrus rind, some damp minerality, and more leafy, weedy, and mildly soused-up floral green hop bitters. The taste is gritty and grainy caramel malt, some mixed domestic and tropical citrus fruitiness, plain Pez candies, a faint earthy yeast character, and more edgy leafy, weedy, and piney verdant hoppiness.

The carbonation is adequate in its palate-assuring frothiness, the body a solid middleweight, and generally smooth, as the big hop presence doesn't seem to be of the intrusive sort here. It finishes off-dry, the malt and fruity essences stamping out the hopes of the wanly lingering forest floor detritus character.

Overall - this looks to be another successful attempt at emulating the NEIPA ideal, with a nice rounded drinkability, and a well-integrated 18-proof boozy-booze factor. Grand stuff, even if they initially tried to serve this to me in a solo cup!
