Standard solid vanilla dark sweet ale. Couldn't taste anything different. On the sweeter side.

On-tap at Vässen Brewing Company, Richmond, VA
A: The beer is clear dark red in color and has a slight amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a thin beige colored head.
S: Light to moderate aromas of dark fruits and vanilla are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of candi sugar, vanilla, and dark fruit.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is a nice dubbed, although I wished that the vanilla could have played a more prominent role in the smell and taste.

L: Had this on-tap at Capital Ale House - Midlothian, poured into a tulip glass. Had a dark brown color and a cloudy texture. There was an inch of off white, foamy, fairly long-lasting head. Pretty good lacing.
S: A nice aroma of vanilla, Belgian-style yeast, chocolate, malt, and a nutty quality.
T: Tasted of a good amount of chocolate, a lot of vanilla (particularly prevalent in the finish), light spices, the aforementioned nutty quality, and a little dark fruit (plums?). A well done flavor that seems to get better as it goes along. It has a good complexity and character to it.
F: A well carbonated beer with a smooth finish. Medium-bodied.
O: On the whole, this is a solidly made, easy to drink beer. Worth a try.

Rich and flavorful. Not the best selection on a hot summer day
