This one is reviewed from a growler that my wife and I picked up at the last stop on a date night. The beer is utterly black with a tan head and a thick complexion. The aroma is serious with cocoa, coffee, and dark roasted malt. Wonderful. The taste has coffee, chocolate, and cinnamon. I get more spice as the beer warms. Sweeter than I expected, and probably sweeter than the beer needs. Full in body.

a somewhat traditional irish stout here, a little stronger than many, spiked with local coffee from coma and some cocoa nibs from what i understand. its a tasty brew, but i fear my pour may have either been the very beginning or the very end of a keg, as it was more brown than black like a stout should look, and it was loaded with sediment, mukry and really unrefined visually, which is too bad because it smells really good. the coffee is strong in here, heaps of it adding nice roast and bitterness alongside the dark chocolate profile and faint smoke character in the malts. its smooth and bold in the taste, a little sweet but well balanced, and still with some yeast character like i like in a dry irish stout, i just wish this was cleaned up a little better, it was a turnoff to get a glass of beer that looked like this, and i dont think it did justice to what is obviously a pretty solid recipe. i like to bold use of local coffee, it gives this beer its soul. hopefully a little more tidy next time, lots of potential here...
