these guys sure seem to be chasing down all the trends, a brut ipa and a milkshake ipa on the same list, whatever, i would be more critical if the beers werent as good as they are. this has vanilla and tangerine and lactose in it, a sort of orange julius or creamsicle thing happening, but they were smart about it in that its not too sweet, its not over flavored, and its still very hoppy, better than a lot of these are. soft and hazy, uniformly sort of thick, almost nitro looking, with a strong nose of fresh vanilla and citra hops. citra for sure, maybe some others, lemony and kind of delicate, at least as far as the bitterness is concerned, and the juicy freshness brings out some of the zesty tangerine thats in here, balanced in a neat way for one of these, and with lots of rich creamy body to extend it and keep it smooth going down, a product of maybe a starchier grain base and the milk sugar together. its not too sweet to drink a whole one, and the selected adjuncts really do work pretty well together. lots of body and a well hidden abv, i thought this was really well made and reminds me of some very highly regarded and rated beers in this style. these guys need to find their own identity a little bit, but that they have a highly competent brewer is now quite apparent. enjoyable and ahead of the curve in the style!
