Pours a chill hazed hazel color with one finger of tan head. Above average head retention & lacing
S: Toastyness, cake notes
T: Follows the nose, some peaty notes, plenty dry & a touch of leafy hops up front. Hints of caramel mix in with Peat & leafy hops as this beer warms up. Finishes with some toffee notes, dryness with woody & leafy hops & just a trace of peat
MF: Medium body, moderate carbonation
Solid take on the style, pretty drinkable

Sampling a 12 oz can poured at cellar temp into my snifter. No visible date stamp on the can nor label. Received in BIF trade.
The beer pours a rich clear mahogany with deep garnet hues mixed in. A creamy khaki colored head foams up 2 cm and slowly fades to a sturdy surface covering. I get some dense creamy lattice when I swirl or take a sip.
Aroma is caramel and some brown sugar with a bit dark bread mixed in too. I also find some vegetal hoppiness in there too. No hint of the booze on the nose. I am also getting a little bit of a chalky note, maybe hard water?
First sip reveals a medium body with smooth mouthfeel and fine tingly carbonation.
Flavor is similar to the nose, with caramel and brown sugar with the same dark bread on the flavor. Here hops are vegetal and also some herbal notes. Finish does dry out my palate and I get a little lingering astringent bite on the finish. Its not a lot but its there. No warming or other real booziness on this one.
Beer drinks pretty easy and is enjoyable. Glad to have tried this one.

From a 6-pack picked up at Safeway in Polson, MT (if I remember right;) can indicates 7.8% abv
12oz can poured into a Ben's Bottle Shop nonic pint
P pours a crystal clear amber/chestnut w/ a 1f creamy khaki head; nice color
N soft-med toffee and toasted malt notes
T follows the nose; toffee, toasted malt, bready character, and some plum/grape sweetness in the finish (almost brandy-like) along with earthiness that lingers into in aftertaste; good flavor; nicely balanced
Mf med to med-full bodied; med-high carb; smooth and lightly creamy
O an enjoyable scotch ale, imo; the dark fruit elements are notable and nicely incorporated

a little different take here, sweet and fruity, malt derived, a little fermenty, less earthy and grounded than i am used to in the style, strong and loaded with layers of molasses, brown sugar, maple, and even something somewhat floral, not sure i need a ton of this, it gets weighty rather quickly, but its neat and distinctive, if still a little bit amateurish to me. looks the part, frothy tan head on top of a mostly clear low glow deep amber, just where it should be, maybe a touch lighter than the most robustly grainy examples of this style. the nose is autumnal to me, things like chestnut and red apple, along with a slight vinous astringency thats a little out of place, bready dough and yeast, bran, toffee, and good granola, some subtle esters in here from the ferment, quite a bit of residual sugar. the flavor is similar, a baked warmth to it, coffee cake and raisin, sort of breakfasty, but i guess i had it in the morning. sweet all the way though, some european grains making an impact which gives it some depth, and i like the yeast for the most part, adds a lot to this. fig, almond essence, and raw brown sugar at the end. medium body, not as heavy to drink as i am making it sound, not overly carbonated, long on the palate, hearty and sort of enriched feeling. not totally dialed, but this is a beer with a lot of personality. we had a blast at radio too, great space, wicked food!

12oz can from Brewers Haven. Dark brown, skin of off-white head. Earthy aroma, peat. Taste adds some sweetness, light smoke, tobacco. A bit dry at the finish.

Scotch Ale
Radio Brewing
Where's Me Pants?
ABV: 7.5%
Date: Unknown
This is the third beer from Radio I will have consumed. The temp is close to 38 degrees and served in a tulip glass. The pour created a light tan creamy and foamy one-fingered head. Decent head retention left some lacing on the glass. The color charts around SRM 24, dark ruby brown. The clarity is clear with a few a carbonation traveling to the top. The appearance is beautiful.
Nosing the glass the first time, I smell caramel, toasted malts, roasty notes, hints of herbal. Smelling the beer several more times, I detect toffee, biscuit, bread, lightly floral, and subtle spice.
The flavors are caramel, toffee, molasses-like sweetness, floral, a hint of white pepper, roasty malts, toasty bread crust, biscuity, orange, and earthiness.
The mouthfeel is dry and slightly astringent. The body of the beer has a medium consistency and medium carbonation. It finishes clean with a touch of hop bitterness.
Overall I am impressed with this scotch ale. I enjoyed the malt; it has complexity and depth. What surprised me what how well the hops blended with the beer. I thoroughly enjoyed sipping this ale on another bitterly cold Idaho spring day.
