morning beer on a hangover, this is the stuff, set me right, much needed, and the food in here is awesome too, what a cool place they have, unexpectedly class, ive been somewhat up and down on their beers ive encountered, but this is real nice. roasty on the grain side, bitter dark roast on the coffee too, but i dont mind the double jeopardy there because the acidity from the beans is low and the finish is dry, the linger is pleasant, and the grain is well structured to handle all this character, its almost surprising how low alcohol it is, seems with this frothy fuller feel and all this flavor that it could be quite a bit stronger, i dig that, makes it even more of a perfect morning beer. they might call this beyond midnight too, but im pretty sure it was just being called coffee stout when we visited. obsidian black with a slow fading ring of light brown froth, high shine this one, looks good. the nose and taste are coffee forward, but the roasted grain is bold too, and this runs pretty deep and dark, bitterness sets in early, espresso crema meets high cacao dark chocolate, but its got great smoothness as it drinks, some oats possible in the mash, maybe even some specialty wheat malt, feels fluffy to me like that a little bit. some might wish for a little more sweet middle malts to balance but i liked this how it is, subtle raisin in there, but this is about the dark stuff and its very effective. enjoyed this one a lot, needed it actually, a little caffeine boost here too. exceptional food, cool environs, and above average beers in here, definitely a place to go out of your way to visit, wished we had more time but glad we made it. this is a little old school, the beans are seriously roasty, but if you like dark black coffee, this is your jam!

A 16 ounce pour from the tap at the brewery into a shaker pint.
Look- Black, opaque, medium brown frothy head, average head retention, above average lacing.
Smell- Toasted oats, coffee, between weak and medium strength of scent.
Taste- Coffee, toasted oats, weak strength of flavor.
Feel- Between thin and medium body, average carbonation, moderately bitter, moderately creamy, very slightly mouth warming.
Overall- Appearance was a nice black with average head retention and above average lacing. Bouquet and flavor were pleasant, but very basic and way too understated. This beer provided a below average drinking experience.

Appearance: Pours coffee colored with a modest bubble show that leads to a one finger head; splatters lacing
Smell: Roasted malt, burnt toast and dark coffee with a hint of black cherry
Taste: Dark coffee forward with the roast and burnt toast flavors developing; through the middle, a hint of black cherry complements the coffee flavor; the finish is dry
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation
Overall: A nice coffee stout that grew on me as the beer warmed
Thanks, JohnGalt1, for the opportunity

Canned 2/15/23
Another day, another beer from Idaho. Somehow. Despite havibg my first beer from Idaho literally yesterday, woemad managed to send me 2 beers from the state in his second BIF box. This one is about as straightforward as you can get, a coffee Stout with no further explanation. Sounds like a good way to wind down
Pours almost completely pitch black with 2 fingers of creamy tan head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves decent lacing
The coffee is definitely strong in the nose, and it smells damn good. I’m picking up on aromas of drip coffee, burnt coffee beans, dark toast, milk chocolate, burnt caramel, brown sugar, and light raisin
It’s a bit more abrasive in taste, but not super aggressive and still good for what it is. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting acidic coffee, burnt coffee beans, burnt caramel, molasses, earthy hops, milk chocolate, and light brown sugar. The swallow brings notes of acidic coffee, burnt caramel, black cherry, char, burnt coffee beans, dark toast, and light vanilla
A medium body pairs with moderate carbonation, resulting in a prickly and roasty beer. Finishes bone dry and balanced
This is a nice, simple coffee Stout. Well done
