Fresh at the brew pub.
Amber copper color with a thick head with decent retention.
Light sweet aroma of caramels and some apple juice.
Malty flavor with herbal hops backing it up, notes of red apples, caramels and some wood and toasted malts.
Medium body with mild carbonation.
Assertive Marzen reasonably faithful to style and fun to drink.

You know i live in Argentina,my town Dolores lies at 130 miles from Buenos Aires, i travel very often to there because my daugther is in college.
Two days ago i was enjoying a good meal and beer in Buller.I have drunk two pints of Oktoberfest .
The bar is a nice place where you can see the brewing equipment right by your side,it has tables to be served on the sidewalk, an excellent choice to drink a good beer in Buenos Aires.
Coming back to the Oktoberfest i had drunk i can tell you that this beer is a very good one,but as many other bars here, they incur in the same mistake... beer is not as cool as it should be and doesn´t have the proper carbonation.
It tastes malty, fruity with a subtle hoppy final.

half pint at the brew pub 24/8/11

A clear copper with lots of tiny bubbles with a thin film that cakes the side of the glass with lace

S very faint sweet malt, maybe some honey not much going on here

T bready sweet malt, and much, much stronger then the smell but that's still not saying much, some earthy hops might be hiding in there

M a little thin but the bubbles cream it up a bit, leaves a little behind on my gums

O OK but nothing worth bragging about, no problems finishing a half pint that's for sure

I can see where they are going with this one but it has room for improvement

the color (amber with reddish hues) met my expectations for the style but no head of any variety could be found

aroma was weak to the point that i had trouble identifying any malt-born sweetness. with time and effort i can smell some german(-style) malty aspects

a slight suggestion of vienna and munich malt flavors saved the brew from total taste anonymity. hops have a limited role here and provide feeble bitterness and a minute earthy flavor
