a very tasty one here, featuring waiiti hops, juicy and distinctive and delicious. they call this a lazy ipa, which i guess means kind of a session thing, nobody wants to say session anymore. maybe not intentionally hazy, but definitely unfiltered looking, deep golden to light orange in color with a full inch of lasting and creamy white foam on it, lots of bubbles too. it smells like dried apricots, coconut flakes, and sweet citrus, a slightly richer grain complexion underneath too, and a pretty clean ferment, very unique and appealing, somewhat delicate too, definitely fresh. the flavor has some melon and coconut in the hop profile, also kind of subtle but certainly different than the northwestern hop profile that dominates so many of these, i love what i taste, and reckon with the sturdy grain base here that this beer could handle a little bit more of it, but there is something to be said for restraint too, and this is one i just keep on sipping because i keep wanting more of what i taste, a very drinkable beer and with a ton more character than i have come to expect in the session types. almost no bitterness at all, at least until it warms up some, then it just hits the back of the tongue. they call it lazy, maybe for lazy days, there is certainly nothing lazy about the ingredients, recipe, or execution here. among the best beers i have had from roha to date, really nice!
