Picked this up at the store last week, and unfortunately realized it really was a Festbier, canned in 8/21/18, hopefully still good. Also using this as a practice to get going into BJCP style studying, so I'll review this along side BJCP guidelines.
Pours a nice creamy fluffy huge 2 finger head that retains quite well, good notched lacing, clear but with obvious sediment possibly due to age (so I'll give it a little leeway here), golden tan color
Nose nice rich malty aroma, toasted pilsner malts, impression of malt sweetness, nice lager aromas, a touch bready/doughy, hint of grassy hops, no off-aromas, pretty spot on
Taste again brings lots of rich malty flavors, toasted bready-doughy pilsner malts, a little soft sweetness but maybe a bit on the sweeter side, some fair grassy hops kick in, on the higher end for the style but within the bounds thanks to the balance tipped in the malt favor, hops get a little herbal and spicy on the dry but soft finish, fair crisp dry finish. I do get a little minerality note in it, probably to give impression of Munich water profile.
Mouth is soft lager, medium bodied, nice carbonation although perhaps a bit on the higher side than the "medium" that BJCP mentions. No alcohol.
Overall a very well done Festbier for one brewed not only outside of Germany, not only in U.S., but also in Massachusetts. This followed the style guidelines quite nicely, very enjoyable lager and nice malt to hop profiles, very enjoyable and nice impression overall.
