Brewed with kilned and roasted barley this red coloured beer has notes of caramel and butterscotch. This beer originated in the city of Kilkenny in the early 1700s. Inspired by genre-defining Smithwick’s, enjoy our take on this moderatley hopped European style beer.

Can was packaged 08/28/24. Poured a 473ml can into a pint glass. A two finger tan head on a clear dark reddish amber. the head sticks around to the end. Lots of fine lacing.

Bready malts smells. Taste follows the nose. Caramel, toffee, sweetish. A moderate to light hop finish.

Medium body and carbonation. Overall a solid expression of the style. Would buy again.

Clear copper red brew, decent head, some lace. Quite sweet on the nose and to taste. Not as soft as I would expect for an ale, too much sparkle. The thing I enjoy most about this type of ale is that I find it relaxing to drink. This particular example was a little too sharp edged, was lacking the harmony of the whole - it just wasn't relaxing to drink. Passably good, but not tremarkable.
