The beer is hazy and a pale straw color without much of a head. The beer smells sweet and wheaty with some fruity esters and some floral hop notes, like a floral pastry. It is slightly sour o the tongue and and biscuity with downplayed herbal hops. The feel is loose but hard with decent carbonation. It is not a bad wheat ale but doesn't stand out as too good either.

I visited C&G a few days after their grand opening. I respect them starting off with the basics, but to blunt a lot of their beers left a bit to be desired. However, their American Wheat struck me as something special. Not because it was infused with some idiosyncratic hipster blend of agave and passion fruit. It was simple, but not insultingly simple.

L: Minimal head, at least in a flight glass. Golden, light to medium body. Appears to be filtered. Head doesn't stick around, but I don't think it's fair to judge head retention or lacing within a flight glass.

S: Biscuit malt. Wheat. Hint of citrus.

T: Biscuit malts again, a little more citrus, and tad hop spiciness.

F: Carbonation is spot on for the style. Very crisp, finish is semi-dry. Leaves you wanting another sip.

O: Again, the unexpected star of the show for C&G's initial year-round offerings. No frills, just a solid and refreshing wheat beer. I have never been surprised by a wheat ale, but this is good enough to be a benchmark for other wheat ales. I'd love to try it side by side with Bell's Oberon or a A Little Sumpin' Sumpin'.
