Served from bottle #104/156 in a Phase Three snifter.
Following up the Zinfandel Blend with the Bordeaux cousin. Get some. This stuff pours mostly clear ruby topped by a half-finger of glowing off-white foam. The nose comprises sharp red wine must, mild vinegar, and a touch of oak. The taste brings in more of the same, the Merlot really standing tall whilst representing the musts, the yeast and barrel providing a rich almost acetic funk. The body is a lithe medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a drying finish. Overall, a stronger offering than the Zin blend, one that shows what you can do when you combine some strong grapes with an able brewer and a powerful foedre.
