Served from bottle #69/156 (nice) in a Phase Three snifter.
I'm not much of a zin man myself, but after the success of the first two Enologica offerings, I'm willing to give this one a go. It pours a mostly clear magenta topped by a half-finger of glowing off-white foam. The nose is a burst of the zin and sirah grapes promised on the label, along with a hint of sweet nigh-on concord must in the very background, alongside some general mustiness. The taste is decidedly vinous, closer to a peppery rose than anything, with some mild oak and white grape bits here and there (not unlike some oaked chardonnay, really). Tartness definitely, but it's not super puckering. The body is a lithe medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a drying finish. Overall, not my favorite Enologica, as I believe the grape musts involved just aren't my thing (can't speak to the Carignan in particular, but the other two are certainly not my go-tos in the wine aisle), but the malts, yeast, and barreling at play help assuage things just enough to keep enjoyment up.
