Had on tap. Opaque obsidian black body, fluffy finger's worth of cream colored foam, spotted blobs of lacing abound. Smell and taste are clones and they nailed this: dark chocolate and roasted malt combine to take on the drier dark yeast, hint of earthy hops and char, all melding together in the sip. Feel is on the lighter side for the style, but very clean, dry and roasty. Closing my eyes while I sip this and I think I am back in London

16oz can pours a deep brown-black with a generous cap of dark tan-colored head that leaves thick ribbon lacing and shrinks somewhat but sticks around. Aroma is roasted and burnt malts. Taste is hefty on the burnt malts especially, really bringing to mind that term of endearment "motor oil" that is often used for beers in this style. A slight sweetness accompanies the malt and a sour-bitter flavor comes in at the end, trailing into a slightly bitter aftertaste. Seems just a little bit over-hopped, but not too bad. Medium body and a creamy mouthfeel with low carbonation feel.
Pretty good beer, very true to style. If it had a better hop balance, it would be absolutely fantastic and near perfect.
