8/9/24 - (Can - Home) (Chicago, IL) Can Notes: Purchased at store temperature on May 30, 2024 at Beer on the Wall Park Ridge for $3.98 including tax. 16 oz canned 3/27/24. Collaboration English-Style Pale Mild Ale with Maplewood Brewing. 3.8% ABV, Hops East Kent Goldings. Brewed and bottled by Roaring Table Brewing, Lake Zurich, Illinois.
Grab your Nonic and get cozy like they do down at the pub. Brewed with Thomas Fawcett Maris Otter, Cara and Crystal, this sessionable pint highlights the wonderful maltings of Yorkshire. We notice flavors of bread dough, nuts, toffee and biscuits. Cheers!
Appearance: Tan golden clear base, sustained medium carbonation, creamy rich egg white head at the initial and top off full pour of the can into a nonic glass. Looks great. 4.25
Aroma: Malt sweetness front and center, barley, tobacco, English yeast, tea and crumpets. Mild plus in strength, pulling me in. 4.0
Taste: Consistent with the aroma, caramel, freshly baked rolls, comes through strong despite the style's inherent low ABV. 3.75
Mouthfeel: Light gentle carbonation, medium body, malt sweet but consistent with style, same as the light drinking experience in terms of ABV/strength. Nice caramel malt finish. 4.0
Overall: This beer is consistent with expectations, strong flavor for the style and ABV, nice light easy flavor packed offering. Well done Roaring Table and Maplewood, hope this returns in the future! 4.25

Pale golden orange, ample froth and lace.
Nutty malt with vaguely fruity yeast esters, dried apple and toast.
Soft feel, nutty malt with a mild bitterness. Light to medium bodied, moreish and easy drinking. Carb is a touch prickly at first.
Overall it’s a solid rendition of the style, and a right proper pint.

No BJCP listing for this style, so I'm flying by BA rules. Canned-on date of 3.27.24. Poured into a short, wide mug.
L -- Clear, deep golden amber with a sudsy white head that settles quickly to a fine cap.
S -- Bready malt sweetness and nutty notes up front. Light fruit esters.
T -- Fruit esters and light earthy bitterness up front. Interesting balance of graininess and that toffee-ish Maris Otter character back. There's a mild tangy sourness in the finish through the aftertaste -- not distracting, but seems a little off.
F -- Mouthfeel is lightly syrupy to soft with a light body that teases to light-medium with nice residual malts.
O -- The perfect session beer with flavors that keep you interested, but don't slap your face. I've been a sucker for Maris Otter malt since I first identified its character many years ago. I have to imagine this one was outstanding off the cask.

Had on cask. Clear bronze pour with a large white head, spotted lacing. Smell and taste are clones: orange, pale malt, english yeast, biscuit, mild floral and lesser so grassy hops with a kiss of musty earth. Taste has a little more potency to it, yet still all delicately delivered. Feel is light but never thin, hops poke through the soft yeast and smooth maltwork. The best EPMA I have had. Which this is only my 4th and the first since 2017, so that's fun!

a: translucent, medium amber. Frothy 2 finger eggshell white head. Slight level of lacing left behind
s: freshly baked brown bread, some toffee
t: nutty toffee. some caramel. slight brown bread. mild bitterness
m: medium body and carbonation.
o: A deliciously flavorful Mild. Would thoroughly enjoy a couple these in a session and would not tire of it at all. Well done.

Canned 3/27/24; drank 4/2/24 @ the Yarchives.
See-through amber appearance.
A rough pour yielded a big, noisy eggshell head; a thick curtain of lacing remained.
Wood, brown rice & well-preserved book notes in the nose.
Smooth, medium mouthfeel.
Brown rice, wood & well-preserved book flavors.
This feels like sitting in a classy private library on an estate in rural England. The mouthfeel makes the experience extremely pleasurable, but the stoic, somewhat stark flavors are endlessly interesting. I'd love to have this on cask. A winner.
