Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark orange red with a half finger khaki head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of lightly biscuit malt, raisins, plums and light dry caramel. Flavor is dry caramel malt with a hint of biscuit, dates, raisins, dried plums; lightly phenolic. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess. A very pleasant, deep bodied quad. The flavor starts a bit dialed back, but very nicely integrated and rich with dried fruit flavors. Malty, but the malt character is subsumed into the overall smooth taste. Somewhat understated, but in a good way because the overall flavor is great and persists throughout the taste. The pour seemed almost still at first, but this developed a thin, but nice looking fine grained head that lasted a long time and looked almost like a nitro pour. I'm quite pleased with this introduction to Obec who have been off my radar until now; but no longer.
