cool they are packing separate varietals of this one now, in cans. the one listed here that i reviewed awhile back was in a bottle and also a blend of grapes. the front of this one just says cabernet sauvignon, but the side of the label mentions petit verdot too, and it certainly looks like that, tons of pigment and color saturation from the fruit. a wild ale in oak as the base, love the way the grapes are incorporated and define it without running over the funky yeasts and the wood, this and its other canned counterpart we had were quite a lot less sour than the meadowlark bottle we had in the same session that was done with riesling grapes, and i definitely prefer this lower acidity. beautiful deep ruby to purple beer, some carbonation in the liquid but very little head. nose and taste are in sync, lots and lots of red wine character, almost rather than the fruit itself which is cool, and with the funk and the strength this drinks like natural wine, really beautiful, fuller feeling but without a lot of malt flavor to me, tannic and tart, with supporting fruit notes of red and black raspberry and red currant, even black cherry to me as it warms, a bit of red wine vinegar sourness, neat yeasty funk, port wine richness and a little sweetness most of the way. i love the slow pace of it too, dont even mind the carbonation being this relaxed. deep grape character is what this is all about, i think the ferment is cool but its secondary to the fruit, nice proportions overall though, neat to have a couple iterations of this side by side, even if i was already all buzzed up when they got opened! hey, it happens...

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
