sick to have this next to the cabernet sauvignon one, both have some petit verdot as well, even though its not on the front, only on the side label, great pair of beers here, this one has even more color, deep almost blood red, gorgeous even without hardly any head, seems fuller bodied too, even though its a little lower in abv, about the same in terms of fruit intensity, lesser carbonation, fermentation profile, and residual sugar, but the fruit shows a bit differently here, the syrah has wonderful earthiness to it, and also some more prominent minerality that i didnt pick up to this extent in the other one, things like iron and graphite coming out as this warms. complimentary fruit notes of black cherry like the other, but also huckleberry, prune, and blackberry jam in this one, a bit deeper and perhaps slightly more complex, even with also being kind of minimal on the appreciable grain character in the flavor. palate coating without being sweet, woody and tart without being too sour, funky but maybe still evolving a little bit in that regard, vinous with the oak for sure too, and overall just delicious. red florals and subtle vinegar as it warms, long on the palate, a cool series for sure, already looking forward to what they do with it next year!
