Black color, thick mocha head, some lace.
Aroma of chocolate, coffee, and cinnamon.
Taste builds on the aroma. Dark chocolate, espresso, cinnamon. Some sweetness.
Smooth, no hint of alcohol.
World class!

No evident canning date. Poured into a snifter. It pours an oily, inky black color with a full finger of frothy, light mocha-colored head and thick lacing. The smell offers dark chocolate, cinnamon, freshly-brewed coffee, and nutty macaroon. It's absolutely decadent. The chocolate is rich but only mildly sweet. Rather, the sweetness comes from the oats, lactose, and coconut. The coffee is acidic and the cinnamon and coconut are noticeable but delicate. The macaroon is primarily at the finish and it's the perfect compliment to the other flavors. Beneath the foregoing is a nice base of earthy char. The flavors blend very well. The mouth feel is thick and creamy with lite/moderate carbonation, and it sure doesn't drink like 11.5% ABV. I recommend sipping it slowly. Overall, this variant of Transgression culture is superb and not gimmicky considering the adjuncts. This is a superb pastry stout.

Poured from a 16oz can into pint glass in February 2022. There was no brewed or canned on date. I drank this about 1 week after purchasing the 4-pack.

Appearance: As with other Imperial Stouts, very dark black with a thin dark brown head. Head was about 1 finger high, and only lasted a minute. It left very little lacing on the glass, and ended with no head on the beer. Head bubbles were very fine.

Smell: Sweet aroma of chocolate and vanilla. There is also some coconut, cinnamon, and some other sweet aroma like black licorice, but overall the chocolate and vanilla dominate the others. It is a very nice mix of aromas.

Taste: There is a nice balance between the chocolate, and sweetness like vanilla and licorice flavors. Also some coffee flavors. There is some smokie roasted flavors, some caramel flavors, and not much bitter hop flavors. There is a strong alcohol presence, which matches the 11.5% on the label, but it is balanced nicely by the sweetness. The taste is an excellent mix.

Mouth-feel: Thick like liquid licorice, but with a smooth body.

This is a very good, complex Stout, and it has a variety of flavors that adds a nice complexity to the beer. Although this is a big beer, it is very smooth and enjoyable to drink. This chocolate sweetness nicely contrasts the other flavors, and is a nice balance to the high alcohol content. This reminds me of Founder's CBS stout. This is a very good stout, and I will buy this again. Would like if it was available all year and not so expensive!
