A 330ml bottle with a BB of Feb 2018, so it's just out of date. Acquired a while back from a webshop. The label describes it as a classic pilsner-style lager hopped with Hallertau, Saaz and Cascade.
A: Poured into a pilsner glass. A hazy golden colour with some floating particles and low carbonation. Forms a large head of frothy white foam that lasts for a moment before collapsing and dissipating rapidly.
S: Aroma of grainy malt with hints of husks, stewed leaves, dough and earthy yeast. Little hop presence. Bland and unimpressive.
T: Tastes of pale, grainy malt with notes of stewed leaves, husks, hay, mild biscuits, earthy yeast and harsh cardboard in the background. Very dry, followed by a moderate bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with soft carbonation and average body for the style. Mildly astringent. Aftertaste of acrid stewed leaves, cardboard, mild grainy malt and earthiness.
O: Meh - not very good. Rubbish looks, while the aroma and flavour are bland, watery and plagued by off-notes. So-so body. The malt is imprecise, the hops virtually absent and the texture poor. I've had good pilsners before and this does not live up to the standard. Possibly this is on the old side but it doesn't give a good account of itself. Give it a miss.
