A: Pours nearly opaque black. There is just a touch of ruby brown around the edges. A dense tan head forms and gently recedes. Good lace is left behind.
A: Seems just a touch muted at first, but roasted malts and grains. Some dried bitter chocolate comes out. Fairly simple but enjoyable.
T: Bigger than the alcohol would suggest. Roasted malts, light coffee, some nutty flavors. Then bitter, unsweetened chocolate in the finish. A really nice porter.
M/O: Again, bigger than the alcohol seems to suggest. A full body with moderate carbonation. Slightly resinous and oily, but really smooth overall. A great, no frills Porter. Something I will continue to come back to, and really well made.
A great no nonsense porter, no adjuncts or flavorings. Just simple, well made, and relatively low in alcohol. Though seems to drink bigger than it is. Which is a compliment. There needs to be more straight forward examples of the style like this, and I am hoping this becomes a year round staple.
