Had it from tap at the brewery, poured into a snifter.
Very dark brown with not much head or lacing. Pleasant dark chocolate and dark coffee. Nicely dry with a hint of dark berries. Nice beer.

A: Pours an opaque black color. A one finger tan head rises, and sticks throughout. Plenty of lace is left behind. This is a looker.
S: Lots of roasted malts. Coffee, chocolate, molasses and char. Relatively simple, all big malt flavors but enjoyable.
T: Follows the nose with a big roasted coffee bitterness. Molasses, burnt sugar, char. The bitterness lingers on and becomes a bit acrid after a while. Still enjoyable.
M/O: A big full body with moderate carbonation. Sticky, resinous, and oily. Plenty of alcohol heat, with a big bitterness makes this a slow sipper.
A well made imperial stout that hits all the style notes. Maybe not something I'm coming back to again and again. The weight and roasted bitterness keeps that from happening. As this becomes more than a slow warming sipper after awhile and becomes too heavy. Still enjoyable, something to try and the brewery, and a good every once in a while drink.
