This is their British/English Barleywine aged in Bourbon Barrels. On tap at the brewery.
A: Pours a dark, nearly opaque reddish/brown color. A one finger beige head forms and recedes fairly quickly. Light lace. All pretty much expected for how big this is.
S: Wood, vanilla, chocolate, baked bread. Plenty of solvent alcoholic heat. An intense, but fairly one noted aroma.
T: All the wood and base flavors compliment better here I think. Big wood, vanilla, tannins, some chocolate and baked bread. Again plenty of heat. A big malty monster.
M/O: A big full body. Well carbonated, actually almost to carbonated for the style at first. Though as this breaths, becomes much smoother. A great sipper with enough heat to let you know this is big, but without overdoing it.
I got a little to much solvent heat in the nose, and thought this was going to be a little rough. While I do get that heat throughout, it is much more balanced as it warms and I get acclimated to the 11.6% ABV . Overall a well done Bourbon Barrel Aged Barleywine.
