A: Pours a near opaque black with some ruby brown around the edges. A tan head rises and sticks around for a while. Some lace is left behind.
S: Oh yeah strong coffee up front. More of just a shot of black coffee mixed with a stout. Bitter roast and a little acrid.
T: Like the nose, strong coffee up front. Again that bitter roast is there and builds throughout. Green pepper and acrid. As this warms, I become a little more use to that and it is more enjoyable.
M/O: A full body with moderate carbonation. Crisp and smooth at the same time. If in the mood for strong coffee flavors, this fits the bill. Without being over the top in ABV, so easier to drink once I get more acclimated.
I can see why some people will really like this. At first, I didn't like it at all, but as I got acclimated, began to enjoy it better. Though the coffee isn't as well integrated as other examples like Real Ale's Coffee Porter. This is more like a shot of coffee added to a stout, instead of a well balanced offering were everything compliments each other. I'm obviously in the latter camp, but can see why this will be a hit with some.
