A Wit made with Hibiscus lemonade an tea leaves.
A: Pours a cloudy orange/yellow color. A two finger white head forms with good retention and some spotty lace left behind.
S: Orange, lemon and just general citrus rind. Doughy malts husky wheat. Earthy floral and certainly tea like.
T: Light fruity esters, with orange and lemon rind. I get a substantial toasted character, and after having a whiff of the tea leaves used, I think it comes from that. Earthy and floral. Doughy and husky wheat for sure. Interesting and enjoyable, but maybe doesn't come together as completely as I would like.
M/O: A medium body with good carbonation. A crisp bite that smooths out as this warms. Something I can come back to pretty easily.
I don't get a ton of "lemonade" character, which is a good thing as far as I'm concerned. It just adds the citrus/lemon rind character that would be missing as they didn't use the actual fruit peels that the style is known for. The tea is interesting, and adds a floral and almost toasted like quality. Which I like. I do like this overall, though it doesn't all mesh as well as a traditional Wit IMO, its still something I will come back to and recommend.
