Bright yellow and murky with a dense, off-white head tha holds one and a half inches for more than ten minutes. The head never actually dissipates completely before leaving a thick coating of lace on a Strangebird IIPA glass.
The aroma is a mix of strong attributes containing citrus, pine, and cat dander. Fresh pineapple adds a nice relief.
The flavor is quite bitter and astringent. This one is more of a West Coast than East Coast style. Sweetness maintains drinkability without even coming close to balancing by any measure. Pine resin becomes prominent along with citrus once they gain a foothold. The finish is long and fruity.
This one has a medium to full body with the texture of down. The alcohol is as expected without any warmth. Carbonation has a mild scouring effect.
As noted above, this is a good West Coast variant of NEIPA. In my opinion, it can be enjoyed anytime, with friends or just before dinner.
