Sitting at 13.5% ABV, this hefty English barleywine is a smooth beast that blends lively notes of toffee, Amaretto, molasses cookies, candied figs, and a warming, smooth yet boozy finish thanks to extended aging of 14 months in apple brandy barrels. Live life to the fullest because death comes for us all!

Picked up a 16 oz can from the Appalachian Vintner in Asheville 7-8-22 for $11.99. Canned 3-29-22; consumed 11-9-22.
Beer gushed a bit upon opening and poured a flat murky brown.
Nose is apple brandy barrel forward with a touch of alcohol in the background.
Taste is a large malt base that has acquired quite a barrel presence over the 14-month rest. Notes of figs and apples are very prevalent but the barrel balances nicely leaving a touch of sweetness.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth.
Overall a very good barleywine, kind of reminds me of an alcohol spiked fig newton, glad i was able to try!
