One point can of "Island Fir" Double Red IPA from San Juan Island Brewing Co., straight from Friday Harbor. Beer pours a muddy, orange-ish amber and is topped with a very healthy looking foam (+0.25 for that alone). Aroma is piney and grapefruity, as promised (typo on the can label: "graefruit"). Flavor is more subdued than the aroma. Up front the classic NW IPA hop character is there, but it subsides and becomes a much more easy drinking, balanced amber ale after that. There's a bit of malt flavor, but mostly it's just a nice mouthfeel which is very slightly syrupy. On a cold day in late fall this profile is just right.

16oz can poured into 14oz teku. Poured a very dark and cloudy red, almost brown, color with a half-inch of tan head that had good retention and lacing.
Solid, semi-sweet, malts supported pine and citrus hops that pop nicely.
Pretty similar on the tongue, with the hops being even a bit brighter.
The body was nicely full, without being heavy, smooth, and had a dry finish.
Drinkability was good, I might not drink two in a row, but I'll surely drink it again.
Overall, a very nice brew, worth a shot if you see it.
